Food Greener on the other side

People often say someone else's food is always better tasting

Too bad my Bebe, with plenty of other people's food in the fridge, had to select my apple to devour today.

Lock and Fail

8:00 AM: Bebe unlocked her locker @homeroom and put stuff in without a hitch

9:30 AM: Bebe Chen, while working out on the Elliptical, Sweetest Geek pondered about life, the universe, and Everything ... and somehow managed to confuse herself and forgot the locker combination.

10:00 AM: Bebe Chen locked herself out of her own locker, having completely forgotten the locker combination (which, if you recall, she successfully opened THAT morning)
12:00 PM: Sweetest Geek tried with no avail to remember the combination. Sadly, 3 ... 6 ... != 42

5:00 PM: Bebe had to get the lock cut to retrieve her bag and key

EPIC

Epic Fail

This is a story of how a simple online shopping experience could transform into the epic fail of the year. A memorable story about a forgetful Cheekmunk and her adventure to return home.

What seemed like a well thought out of plan of ordering two Dect phones online to save shipping cost returned more than she bargained for. It made perfect sense. Buy the two phones on sale, sell one back at cost and keep the other one.

What wasn't in the plan was selling your house keys to the buyer in the exchange. It took about 5 seconds before SS realized she left the keys in the bag with the phone... calling the buyer yielded no result when he offered to sell the plastic bag recyclable bag back to her and drove off with the keys.

With no keys, she was locked outside and couldn't return home. The resourceful Cheekmunk tried all sorts of ideas. From opening the door with a credit card to prying the windows open with something sharp. At one point, she even brought out the ladder to attack the house from the roof... or at least it seemed that way.

Alas, all was not lost. Almost 2 hours into the the ordeal, our heroic city police arrived to save the day. Couple with a Humble Bee, the courageous Cheekmunk was able to travel across the city to retrieve her keys.

It was a happy hour for her afterward, and an even happier Humble Bee.

24 out of 25 Ain't Bad

Today, SS did an online quiz to get 100% on it. She scored 95% 96% (fail blog Bee can't do math) with 24 out of 25 correct.

Frustrated, she spent the next hour taking notes, applying process of elimination and asked Bee to check all the answers she suspected to be wrong.

So Bee did. And told her the wrong answer was none of the suspected wrong. It was one of the "right" answers she thought was correct.

Frame, Glasses, Mailbox

Eat, Love, Pray

A combination of words which probably makes no sense to anyone who haven't read the book and confuses them more than anything. Which was how I felt yesterday when SS asked whether I picked up her glasses from the mailbox.

Mmm what?

There were two plans.

#1. Keep existing frame
Originally, SS were to put the glasses in the mailbox so I could grab them and drop them off at V. She then picks them up when they're ready in the afternoon.

#2. Try to find a new frame for the glasses, and use current only if necessary

So really, SS just need to bring her own glasses with her, go to the store and pick out a new frame. OR if there's nothing suitable, she would use the old frame with the new lenses. (And I would go pick them up at V when they're ready)

I'll let you guess which plan SS decided to engage that morning...

Backwards

This is the Nth time Bee has wore his T-shirt backwards.
... and he thought he changed it in time before I noticed. =p

Watermelon conversations

Bee was waiting on the phone for a customer service representative to become available. I have cut up some very delicious watermelon to eat after our dinner. Bee was chewing happily on a watery piece until .... "Thank you for calling XXX, my name is XXXX, who am I speaking to?" came from the other side of the phone. Without thinking, Bee let out the most awkward sound to answer the CSR, still with food in his mouth. =p I could not help but laugh, for the next ten minutes, I was laughing on the ground, LOL.

Curbed out

Finding a parking spot near our restaurant was not hard, but I guess parking within the maximum curb distance was more difficult =p

Words for thought,
If the passenger cannot step onto the sidewalk instead of asphalt... the car is usually considered too far from the curb, hehe

To Train or Bus

Bee was walking towards the train after leaving work, this is his usual routine from Mon-Fri. However, today he didn't take the train to work this morning. He parked his car at Park & Ride this morning, and took the bus to work. A bus drove by him on his way to the LRT station in downtown, he quickly realized his fail and ran for the bus. Oh too bad, it left before he reached the doors.
Run, Bee, Run!

I bet he missed both the bus and the train.

Shake that thing

Having pasta for dinner tonight at a nearby restaurant.
Server: Would you like some crushed pepper and cheese?
Pol: Yes please.

Server hands Pol two shakers, one for cheese, one for crushed chili pepper.
Pol, someone who has low tolerance for spicy food, starts adding pepper to his pasta *shake shake shake*
I asked, you know that is hot chili pepper?

. . . Pol, it's not ground black pepper okaaaaaaaay? =p

As a result, Pol didn't finish the "spicy" pasta and packed it to go.

Vodka Headache

Bee had two drinks in the afternoon around noon and says to me at 10 PM...
I have a headache... could it be from the alcohol?

Hmpf! That's what you get for posting

Posting Advertisement 101

How it should work:
SS successfully posting a short, precise and elegant advertising posting online in less than 150 characters.

What actually happened:
"Aww... how would they contact me? I didn't write down any contact information (in the posting). Darn it"

(Especially when you don't put down any contact info)

Taipei

Yeah, I've been to Taiwan; Taiwan's inside Taipei

$1.00 Flip Flops

I only want the flip flops that you can shower with, not those paper flip flops "borrowed" from the hotels

To my curiosity, are there paper flip flops? Unless
Bee thinks flip flops are sandals / slip-ons in general ... I believe flip flops are thong sandals...

Wikipedia says: "Flip-flops, are a simple type of footwear in with there is a band between the big toe and the other toes."

Print coupon please

The Safeway Email Direct deal this week is 50% off! Bee wanted to buy the 9 piece "Signature Cafe Fried Chicken" since it's such a good deal (Regular price of $9.99)... Well, this meant he had to print out the coupons to receive the deal.

We are at Safeway, he pulls out the TWO coupons (one for back up) he printed, only to see that it was coupons for "Safeway Refresh Spring Water". This, a fail.

Good thing Sweetest Suffering had a copy of ALL coupons printed. This, a HERO! =p

Giant Hamburger Statue!?

During my commute to work this morning, Bee mentioned that Deerfoot Highway 2 was blocked off due to some construction crew fail. This is what I was informed by my boyfriend,
Construction crew dropped a giant hamburger on Deerfoot trail this morning by Cross Iron Mills.... A Giant hamburger. It's funny... It's a statue

Out of curiosity, I Bing'ed for the news article on this famous hamburger statue... I am not so sure how he managed to get Giant Hamburger from Girder

To his defense, he only told me what he heard on the radio.

A large concrete bridge span, part of an overpass being built near CrossIron Mills Mall, fell and broke while being installed June 24, 2010 north of Calgary. Traffic on Highway 2 was diverted for several hours because of the accident. The damaged beam is sitting on a trailer ready to be transported from the scene.

"Do I just enter the code into any key pad?" Sweetest Suffering thinks out loud.

** Types in code into the 'compose message' app **

Hmm... it's not working...

Er... Hun, you type that like you would a phone number...

Congrats on the X10, Bebe

She got a new toy.

And in the process, double certified herself as a true Geek.

1. Browsing on eBay for a screen guard for her non-existent phone.
2. Home-made ghetto phone case with ... er ... Saran wrap.

3. Still can't do math though. $30 voice plan + $25 data plan <> $45 dollars no matter how you add it.

Now what was that other thing that I forgot...

Fail In Progress

SS and I were buying some baby clothes for our upcoming preggo friends at Children's Place.

The cashier, in broken and terrible English, asked us whether we want to sign up for a Reward card for 10% off. (It sounded like an okay deal. How bad could it be, right?)

I went to grab more baby clothes to maximize the 10% additional savings... and came back to find Sweetest turning red and fuming. The cashier was asking her for her passport, her driver's license, her credit card and various pieces of personal identifications.

How odd... what kind of reward card needs that many pieces of personal IDs. I asked her to cancel the application, and she insisted we continue since she's already given so much info already. Hmm...

The cashier calls her HQ and asks for approval... Er... something is terribly wrong. We asked what exactly we were applying for. Is it a credit card? Because if it is, we don't want it.

It was a credit card. GG. Good thing we checked and canceled the darn thing. At least we still got the 10% discount for all the trouble.

3/4

Sweetest Suffering is very important to me. She's more than my other half. She's MY 3/4. hehehe

Mostly because she takes away 3/4 of the blankets!!

SS bumped her head against the freezer this afternoon putting groceries away.

As planned, Humble Bee will drop us off for our Facial appointment and he will have about an hour free time to work out before coming back to the Spa to pick us up. H.Bee drove off and I received a text shortly after ...
Humble Bee forgot to bring his access card to his Gym. H. Bee can only sit and wait & pay for Saturday downtown parking.

Double Sukopwn'd

I was completing my 75% completed sudoku while waiting for the bus, I finished the sudoku... only to find out there were mistakes in it - again!

[ To make things worst ] I looked up, [much to my chagrin] my bus had left the station. I failed in sudoku and I had to walk to work.

Sunday Spring Forward, watch where you land

Sir Humble was going out for a nice dinner at Muse, little did he know, there was a surprise waiting for him at the restaurant in Kensington. Oh I bet the surprise somewhat affected his appetite for dinner, since he had to scrape it off the bottom of his shoe and wash it in the restaurant sink. What was it? Well, you guessed it, pOOp

If that wasn't enough, he made the wrong turn on the way driving home, delayed his trip by ten minutes (not enough time for SS to finish an episode of TVB) =D

&& SS will not mention in details of Sir Humble's solitaire showdown fail, but it happened, we both know it =P

Not Her Day

This weekend was just not my bebe's day. Multiple fails...

While paying for her salad, she repeatedly swiped her cards this way and that way when it clearly asked her to Insert Card.

Later when we left the store, she got into the car and slammed the car door onto her hair...

SS is so adorable!

Humpity Dumpity Wallety

Sweetest Suffering sat on a chair
Sweetest Suffering's wallet had a fall

Stephen Avenue

We were at Ric's Grill last night, enjoying a fine meal with some friends and celebrating Canada's Gold Medal victory in Olympics hockey.

Conversation veered to the restaurant, creme brulee and the Metropolitan Grill. Sweetest Suffering asked which Met we were talking about. And rightly so, since there are two Met Downtown.

I replied the one on Stephen's Avenue.

Then she said she prefers the one on 8th Ave. The 17th Avenue is not as good. Mmm...

My SS, Stephen's Avenue is 8th Avenue. Apparently, this has happened more than once.

PS. No fail will be tally as per our agreement.

GG, Phone

Got pwned by Nokia N82 this week.

Phone crashed while I was deleting my text messages (98%of them from SS). It rebooted itself the first time halfway, so I tried deleting them again... Crashed and burned the second time too.

Then BLANK. Nothing. Everything on the phone wiped clean when it soft reset. The phone rolled back to factory default. All my custom program, custom settings, contacts, etc. gone.

(Well played, Nokia, well played)

No big deal right? I could synch it with the PC software to get back most of the data.

Loaded the PC software. It tells me there's a new version and whether I want to download it. Sure, I thought. Why not. Newer is better. (Thinking it would backup whatever data I have on the PC before installing the new version -- like 99% of the software out there).

Nope. PC has no data after software update.

(Well played again, Nokia, well played)
But I still have my Sim card. Unfortunately, it haven't been updated in 2 years and has outdated contact info, but at least I have that much.
I guess it's time for a new phone this April.

GG.

"Capri" length sweater

Humble Bee was picking out what to wear for the day from his collection of sweaters. Needless to say, he picks The One sweater that somehow fitted weird. He puts it on as usual; one arm into the sleeve - oh no!

Why is 1/4 of his arm showing? What first seemed like a confused look on his face turned into embarrasement =p

(His sweater was not made to be 3/4 length, it just somehow shrunk) and Humble Bee still calls it capri sleeves.

A Monday Morning Script

INT. HOME - DAY

A young 10-10-1o man is sitting on the toilet, doing his daily business and texting carefully on a cell phone, lest he drops it.

N82 NOKIA CELL PHONE

Makes a beep and then blank. Nothing.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - DAY (40 MINUTES LATER)

The same young 10-1o-1o man, HUMBLE BEE, sits down at his desk. Looks at a cell phone and picks up the office phone. He dials a number and the phone on the other line rings.

Mario Kart Wrong Direction

Sweetest Suffering can't drive straight in Mario Kart for the Wii. Went in a circle and drove the wrong way.
